With 1,000 days to go until the start of the Paralympic Games in London, Boris has called on the main mobile phone providers to work together to develop new technology to allow people to watch the 2012 games on their mobile handsets.
“I want Londoners and visitors alike to be buzzing with the excitement of the Games as they happen, wherever they are in the city,’ said the Mayor. “I want everyone to share in the same information at the same time and the key to achieving this is through the one item we never part with – our mobile phones.”
Bozza is, according to recent reports, also keen for the networks to enable consumers to pay for smaller purchases, such as a cup of tea, with their mobile handsets.
Further reports that Johnson wants the competitors to be able to control robots of themselves at events with their bluetooth enabled mobile phone (so no-one has to actually leave the Olympic village and put pressure on the transport system) have yet to be confirmed.
