Boris has apparently gone down a storm at the Davos 2009 World Economic Forum. His Mayordom of London seems popular with business leaders in the city. According to the Independent’s Davos Diary, he has declared himself “one of the last defenders of the free market system left in politics”. He pointed out that “a year ago a copy of the Evening Standard cost 50p. Today you could buy the whole thing for the same price, complete with 300 journalists”. Boris headed back down to Davos in the only proper way – by toboggan – at terrifying speed – before signing off with Reuters “… everybody in Davos, once they finish this massive negotiation of egos, this complete vanity, should come to London. It’s considerably cheaper and considerably warmer.”
